The Perfect Pout Is Within Reach

While having full, plump lips significantly boost aesthetic appeal, the truth is not everyone is born with the genes to achieve them. For many, thin lips are the norm, with fuller for those who are genetically blessed.

What Is A Lip Lift?

A lip lift is a quick procedure that makes lips look fuller and more pronounced by reducing the space between the nostrils and the top red lip. Unlike other lip augmentation procedures such as lip injections or implants, a lip lift is a permanent way to enhance thin lips. In addition to shortening the space between the nose and the top of the lip, a lip lift increases the amount of pink lip tissue. This gives the lips a plumper appearance that is life-long and more natural-looking than other methods.

How Is A Lip Lift Performed?

After assessing whether a lip lift is right for you during your consultation, Dr. Robb discerns which technique will yield the best results for your face and aesthetic goals. In general, a lip lift is performed with a small hidden incision right in the junction where the lip meets the nose. There are many different types of lip lift along with variations of each and Dr. Robb Jr. is an expert in this procedure. He will help you identify which procedure is best.

Who Should Consider Having Lip Augmentation?

The first group of people who should consider a lip lift are those who have small lips and a long white upper lip. This procedure provides a natural increase in red lip volume without using fillers or temporary measures.

The second category of patients who should consider a lip lift are patients receiving a facelift procedure or other facial rejuvenation procedures. The white lip elongates with time at 1-2mm/year; as this occurs, the red lip is rolling into the mouth which makes the red lip look thinner. Patients often turn to filler to restore their natural and youthful lips. This is often too tall of a task for filler to accomplish and the lip lift is a much more natural procedure.

Dr. Robb Jr. will perform an initial assessment of your lips and facial contours and ask you about your medical history during your consultation. Once he has all the necessary information, he will determine if you are a good candidate for a lip augmentation in Atlanta.

Is There Downtime After The Procedure?

After the procedure, you’ll head home with little to no discomfort. Stitches thinner than a human hair will be used right under the nose. Swelling is normal and usually peaks at 3-4 days after the procedure and decreases significantly by 10 days to 2 weeks after the procedure. Tightness is another common experience that can last for a few months and resolves with time.

Dr. Robb will personally see to your recovery and provide you with tailored post-operative instructions that you will need to adhere to for the best results. All of Dr. Robb’s surgical patients have direct access to him and receive his cell phone number so you’re able to reach out with any questions during the recovery process. Some general instructions include avoiding strenuous activities, smoking, and keeping your head elevated for 4-5 days after the procedure.

    What Results Can I Expect?

This is a permanent outcome procedure. You’ll notice immediately the new balance and volume to your lip which patients just love! The swelling does reduce with time (to some patient’s sadness!)

3% of patients will want to do a scar sanding procedure called dermabrasion or laser resurfacing to further camoflauge the scar hidden under the nose but for the vast majority of patients, the scarring is impercievable 9-12 months after the procedure.
