Jawline Contouring

There are many different reasons why our jawlines may not look exactly how we want them to. From loose skin in the facial region to the development of excess fat below the chin, our facial profiles can dramatically and leave us a jawline that seems almost non-existent. Cosmetic procedures help patients get physical results that would normally be very difficult or even impossible to achieve through natural methods. With jawline contouring, you can help achieve the facial profile you desire.

What is Jawline Contouring?

Jawline contouring is the process through which Alpharetta Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Philip Robb Jr, will shape your jawline to improve your facial profile and achieve a more ideal facial harmonics. There are different methods available to perform jawline contouring and the one used depends on the needs and desires of each individual patient.

Types of Jawline Contouring

Jawline contouring encompasses a myriad of techniques that can help redefine the look of your facial profile. After an initial consultation, Dr. Robb will develop a treatment plan to address your specific needs. Any of the following procedures can help a patient gain a contoured jawline.

Facelift

Used to deal with visible signs of aging and adding a youthful look to the face, a facelift also helps with lifting and sharpening of the jawline. During the procedure, Dr. Robb performs a “Deep Plane” facelift which addresses the deeper tissues of the face. This replaces them back to where they ‘used to be.’ When done correctly, this is a procedure that rejuvenates the volume distribution of the face and enhances your jawline significantly.

A facelift contours the jawline by reducing the sagging in the cheeks and decreasing the presence of jowls from the jawline.

Chin Augmentation with Implant

This form of chin surgery utilizes implants to shape the lower area of the face. The bone structure of the mandible (jaw bone), has a large impact on our jawline. We can augment or add to our jaw bone with a permanent implant. Dr. Robb uses a permanent, but completely reversible implant to add natural looking volume to the chin area. Dr. Robb chooses the shape and size of the implant depending on the patient’s expectations and desires and the level of enhancement required. This is a natural facial enhancement that is permanent.

Facial Fat Transfer

Like many dermal fillers, fat grafting to the face is used to restore volume lost as a result of our natural aging process. Using modern liposuction techniques, fat is harvested from a fat abundant area of the body- usually the abdomen, flanks, or thighs. It is then processed for injection into the face in areas like hollowed cheeks and nasolabial folds. This can create subtle but SIGNIFICANT CHANGE. Since the fat is from the patient’s body, there is no chance of rejection. The added fat improves facial volume and helps to restore one’s facial profile by re-contouring the face. This is a natural facial enhancement that is permanent.

Submental Liposuction

A liposuction technique aimed at eradicating fat from under the chin, this minimally invasive procedure reduces the appearance of a double chin. Fat accumulation in this area leads to our jawline and neck appearing heavy. Once the fat is taken out, the jaw looks naturally contoured and defined. This addresses the ‘superficial fat,’ the fat just under the skin and can be a quick and minimally invasive procedure with very little recovery!

Fillers

Dermal fillers like Restylane, Juvederm, Belotero and Radiesse are very popular for their results in the jawline area. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers help by adding volume to a target facial feature and aid in reducing lines and wrinkles along the area. Fillers can help reshape the jawline without highly invasive techniques and stimulate the natural growth of collagen and leaves behind a crisp and sharp jawline.
