Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) is designed to revitalize the eyes and make them appear young and vibrant again. This quick and often completely painless procedure can make a significant difference and can often remove 10-15 years from your appearance! Eyelid surgery is often performed in the office under local anesthesia without the use of general anesthesia.

Atlanta and Alpharetta Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Philip K. Robb Jr. believes that eyelid surgery is the most efficient way to kickstart the battle against looking tired worn out

Upper eyelid surgery focuses on removing the redundant skin and fullness from the upper lids. This short procedure rejuvenates the face unlike any other procedure. Patients hear that they look “well rested, vibrant and they look 20 years younger.”

Often performed in the office with local numbing medications, it’s extremely well tolerated, quick, with no anesthesia and thus no nausea, sore throat, or hangover associate with those medications.

Lower eyelid surgery targets the puffiness, discoloration, and deep troughs under the eyes. Under eye bags are created as the tissues surround the eyes relaxes – thus the prolapse, or puffiness, occurs. Lower eyelid surgery is usually performed in a surgical center with anesthesia to ensure our patients are comfortable. There are two common surgical approaches to lower eyelid surgery, Dr. Robb Jr. will discuss both of them with you during your consultation.

The key with this surgery is that the perfect amount of fat is addressed to leave a smooth, natural, and un-operated appearance.

Preparation for any medical procedure begins with realistic results. For eyelid surgery, Dr. Robb Jr. will ask about any past eye problems including surgeries or dry eyes.

Dr. Robb Jr. is extremely well trained in orbital surgery and currently performs a myriad of orbital surgeries including fracture repair, lid repositioning, and reconstruction of the lids after cancer resection in addition to eyelid lift.

Occasionally, Dr. Robb Jr. will request that you see an eye doctor if he’s concerned about any specific issues- your safety is our primary concern.

Stopping all blood thinners and NSAIDS (advil, ibuprofen, motrin, aleve) is important 1-2 weeks prior to the procedure

Medications for after your procedure can be picked prior to your day of surgery so you have them on hand.

Arrange rides to/from our office on the day of the procedure even in the case for local anesthesia only- as swelling can make driving unsafe.

Upper eyelid surgery often performed at Robb Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Alpharetta Georgia is often completed within our office under local anesthesia. Local anesthesia has many benefits including no IVs, decreased complications of a general anesthetic, decreased post operative risk, and has is overall higher safety profile. No breathing tube, no breathing machine, and decreased overall health risk. There is no hangover period associated with local anesthetic as well which makes this method very attractive for certain procedures.

Lower eyelid surgery is usually performed at a surgery center under sedation. The procedure will begin by discussing any more questions or concerns with Dr. Robb Jr. in the pre-op area. Skin markings will be made on the skin to address the problem areas. When you wake up a small dressing and some hidden sutures will be in place and the bags/puffiness will be gone.

We go out of our way to ensure your experience is safe, comfortable, and accomplishes your goals.

“This lovely patient of ours was bothered by the extra skin on her upper eyelids and underwent an upper blepharoplasty here in our office! Not even 2 weeks later and she already has great results that she is proud to show off!”

Upper Blepharoplasty

Dr. Robb designs this procedure with minimal recovery in mind.

There are several causes of upper eyelid heaviness or fullness. Dr. Robb carefully and meticulously addresses the tissues that contribute to heaviness while creating natural and youthful eyelids.

In the past, the game was focused on REMOVING as much tissue as possible, today, using the latest techniques, we now keep more tissue to allow lids to look natural and un-operated.

Atlanta and Alpharetta Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Robb Jr. will take a customized and tailored approach to your upper eyes. Every patient’s needs are different, and so no two surgeries are the same.

Dr. Robb uses suture techniques that result in minimal scarring which fades beautifully with time.

This procedure is often performed in conjunction with other procedures in our state-of-the-art private accredited surgery center – North Point Surgery Center. It can occasionally be done on its own on awake patients depending on several factors. Our surgery center uses some form of IV sedation to relax you and induce a sleep during the procedure. There is no pain, and it makes the procedure seem like it took 1.5 seconds!

We’ve had patients go to work as a nurse, Doctor, or Amazon Executive the day after having this procedure done with nobody noticing the recent procedure! Bruising is usually minimal to non-existent. This is a procedure with very little discomfort. Usually, no narcotic pain medications are required but we give our patients a few tablets just in case.

You’re cleared for workouts after 2 weeks.
Sutures are removed at 5 days after surgery typically.

Dr. Robb would love to discuss this more with you and create a personalized and customized surgical plan for you.
